Starship Troopers – which turned 20 on this day – was a cinematic version of the Milgram Experiment, seducing the viewer to the Federation's fascism by concealing it in familiar cinematic tropes. Like a lot of critics, I'm a sucker for the collision of high and low culture, so this B-movie/fash mash-up is one of my favourite films.
